Our structural steel division designs, fabricates, and erects steel-framed structures — using I-beams (universal beams, UB sections), H-beams (universal columns, UC sections), hollow structural sections (RHS, SHS, and CHS), and channel and angle sections — for a wide variety of building types and engineering applications.

Steel-framed construction has become the dominant structural system for industrial and commercial buildings in the UAE due to its speed of erection, flexibility of design, ease of future modification, and excellent strength-to-weight ratio. A steel-framed warehouse or factory can be designed, fabricated, and erected in a fraction of the time required for an equivalent reinforced concrete structure — dramatically reducing programme times and associated borrowing costs for developers and building owners.

Our Structural Steel Process

All structural steel projects begin with a design phase in which our engineering team works from architect or client drawings to develop a structural design and produce detailed fabrication drawings. For projects requiring third-party structural certification, we engage with UAE-registered structural engineers who independently verify the design calculations. Fabrication drawings are produced to ISO 13920 dimensional accuracy standards and include full bill of materials, weld procedure references, and surface treatment specification.

Fabrication is completed in our Mussafah workshop using structural welding procedures qualified to AWS D1.1 or BS EN ISO 15614, with qualified and certified welders. All structural welds are visually inspected as a minimum, with additional non-destructive testing (NDT) — magnetic particle inspection (MPI), dye penetrant inspection (DPI), or ultrasonic testing (UT) — carried out on critical structural welds as specified in the project quality plan.

Surface treatment for structural steel typically comprises shot-blasting to Swedish Standard Sa 2.5 followed by application of a high-build epoxy zinc-rich primer and, where required, a polyurethane or acrylic topcoat. Hot-dip galvanising to BS EN ISO 1461 is specified for structures in severely corrosive or outdoor environments. Erection is carried out by our experienced structural steel fixing teams, working to a detailed method statement and risk assessment, with all lifting operations planned and supervised by a competent lifting officer.
