Access frames are custom-fabricated structural steel assemblies that provide secure, pre-engineered mounting points for process equipment, instrumentation, electrical panels, and mechanical systems. Equipment skids — also known as base frames or module skids — are self-contained structural platforms on which complete process packages (pump sets, compressors, heat exchangers, metering stations, chemical dosing units, and so on) are assembled, piped, wired, and tested in our workshop before delivery to site as a ready-to-connect module. This modular approach reduces site construction time, improves quality control, and minimises the on-site interface risk between mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.

Design & Engineering

All skid and frame structures are designed in accordance with client specifications and applicable structural codes (typically AISC, BS 5950, or equivalent). We produce detailed fabrication drawings and a bill of materials for client and engineering approval before commencing fabrication. Structural calculations can be provided by our engineering team or by client-nominated structural engineers — we work to either arrangement.

Surface treatment for skids and frames typically includes shot-blasting to Sa 2.5, application of an epoxy zinc-rich primer, and a polyurethane or epoxy topcoat in the specified RAL colour. Hot-dip galvanising is available as an alternative for structures in severely corrosive outdoor environments. All fabrication is subject to our standard quality control process with dimensional inspection and weld inspection records maintained throughout.
