Custom-Built Storage Tanks

Custom-Built Storage Tanks — Abu Dhabi

HighTech Fabrication and Turning LLC SPC is a specialist manufacturer of custom-built storage tanks for industrial and commercial clients across Abu Dhabi and the UAE. We design, fabricate, and test storage tanks in our Mussafah M11 workshop — maintaining full quality control across every stage of production, from material procurement and plate marking through to welding, post-weld treatment, hydrostatic testing, and final documentation. Our tanks are supplied to clients in the oil and gas, petrochemical, water treatment, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, agriculture, and general industrial sectors.

The storage of liquids is a fundamental operational requirement for almost every industrial and commercial facility — and the quality of the tank in which those liquids are stored is critical to product integrity, regulatory compliance, operational safety, and long-term asset value. A poorly fabricated tank can fail within years, causing costly spills, product contamination, environmental damage, and significant repair or replacement costs. At HighTech Fabrication, we build tanks to last — using certified materials, qualified welding procedures, and rigorous quality inspection to ensure every tank delivers reliable, leak-free performance throughout its design life.

Tank Types We Fabricate

  • Potable water tanks — Grade 304 stainless steel with hygienic internal weld finish and passivation treatment, for building water supply, fire storage, and irrigation
  • Chemical storage tanks — Grade 316L or Duplex stainless steel for acids, alkalis, solvents, and aggressive process chemicals
  • Diesel and fuel oil tanks — mild steel single-skin or bunded double-skin construction for generator and vehicle fuel storage
  • Food-grade liquid tanks — for edible oils, beverages, dairy products, sauces, and liquid food ingredients
  • Industrial process tanks — mild steel with internal epoxy lining for process water, coolants, and non-aggressive liquids
  • Firefighting water tanks — large-capacity atmospheric tanks with FM-approved construction and fittings
  • Horizontal and vertical pressurised vessels — for compressed air, nitrogen, steam, and process gas storage to ASME VIII or PD 5500 code
  • Bunded secondary containment tanks — where spill containment is required by regulation or risk assessment

Tank Design & Engineering

Each tank is designed by our engineering team using client-specified parameters: liquid volume (litres or cubic metres), working pressure (atmospheric or pressurised), design temperature range, stored medium and its corrosive properties, installation configuration (horizontal, vertical, elevated, or underground), and site constraints. For standard atmospheric tanks, our engineers produce fabrication drawings directly. For pressure vessels, the design is carried out to the applicable pressure vessel code (ASME Section VIII Division 1, PD 5500, or EN 13445) and is subject to third-party inspection authority (IA) review and stamping where required.

Standard tank fittings and accessories include manway access hatches (600mm diameter round or 400x600mm oval as standard), vent connections with insect screens, level gauge connections, inlet and outlet nozzles, drain valves, pressure/vacuum relief valves, and lifting lugs. Optional features include internal baffles for tanks on vehicles or platforms subject to liquid surge, heating coils or jacket for temperature-sensitive stored liquids, insulation jacketing for energy efficiency, agitator mounting flanges, and full external access ladders and platforms.

Quality Assurance & Testing

All tanks are subject to a documented quality inspection process covering: incoming material certification check (MTCs verified against order specification), dimensional inspection against approved drawings, weld visual inspection by a qualified welding inspector, and hydrostatic pressure test at 1.5 times the design pressure (or full water fill for atmospheric tanks) held for a minimum of 30 minutes with zero allowable leakage. Stainless steel tanks are passivated after all welding is complete — a chemical treatment that restores the passive chromium oxide layer that gives stainless steel its corrosion-resistant properties, which can be partially damaged during the heat of welding.

On completion, we provide a full data book comprising: material test certificates for all pressure-containing materials, weld procedure specifications (WPS) and procedure qualification records (PQR), welder qualification records (WQR), dimensional inspection reports, weld inspection reports, hydrostatic test certificate, and certificate of conformity (CoC) confirming the tank has been designed, fabricated, and tested in accordance with the specified code or standard. Third-party inspection by a client-nominated or internationally recognised inspection authority (Bureau Veritas, Lloyd's Register, SGS, TUV, or equivalent) can be accommodated on request.

Tank Delivery & Installation

We deliver tanks by flatbed truck throughout Abu Dhabi and the UAE. Our team can also manage tank installation including lifting into position, connection to pipework, and commissioning — providing a complete supply-and-install service that removes the interface risk between fabrication and installation contractors.
